The vision of Women’s Giving Circles International (WGCI) is to strengthen the concept of women working together, through giving circles and collaborative giving efforts, to fund change and create a more sustainable and compassionate world.
Sondra Shaw Hardy, J.D., Founder
As co-founder of the Women’s Philanthropy Institute and “godmother” of women’s giving circles, Sondra is credited with starting one of the first women’s giving circles in the US. Since, she has helped to establish scores of circles throughout the world and has written/co-authored six books on women’s philanthropy and collective giving. Founding WGCI in 2018, her work is now dedicated to carrying forth the success of US giving circles, in partnership with local leaders, internationally.
Carmen J. Stevens, Executive Director
Carmen joined WGCI as its Executive Director in 2019 bringing with her over 25 years of experience within the field of philanthropy in both the public and private sectors. Her career has included leadership positions in advancement, corporate social responsibility, wealth management and communications. As a finance executive with oversight of global giving, to an advisor for individuals and families of high net worth, to the owner of a philanthropic consultancy, Carmen has generated and leveraged funding for social change for over two decades, including the creation of one of the first women’s giving circles in the US.
